Sample report
The record is the product.
Most people choose an inspection company by looking at a report it has already written. We think that is the right way round, so this page describes what ours contain — and what they do not.
Contents
What every CCI report carries.
The layout is fixed. A reader who has worked through one report can find the same thing in the same place in the next one, which matters more than it sounds when you are reading them at speed.
-
Identification
Who instructed the inspection, what consignment it concerns, which site was attended, and on what date.
-
Scope
What was examined — and, just as importantly, what was not. An inspection that does not state its limits cannot be relied on at its edges.
-
Method
How the sample size was arrived at, what instruments were used, and which conventions were applied — including which ice-glaze convention and which temperature basis.
-
Findings
The measurements, the photographs and the observations, each attached to the point in the process it came from. No figure appears without its source.
-
Result, against your criteria
The figures set out against the acceptance criteria you supplied. Where a criterion was not supplied, the report says so rather than filling the gap.
-
Authorisation
Before a report is issued it is reviewed by two other people, and the person who issues it is not the person who compiled it. The name of the issuer and the date of issue appear on the report itself. Reports are issued by individuals, not by the system.
Limits
What a CCI report is not.
- It is not a certificate of conformity, and it does not declare the goods fit for any particular purpose.
- It is not a customs document, and it does not guarantee that goods will clear any border.
- It is not a guarantee of the condition of the goods at any later point, including on arrival.
- It is not a laboratory analysis. Where a question can only be answered by testing — residues, microbiology, composition — an on-site record cannot answer it, and we will tell you that rather than approximate.
Request a sample
We will send a redacted report on request.
Ask and we will send a real report with the commercial detail removed, so you can judge the document rather than a description of it.
If you would rather see a report for your own product category, say which one. Where we have a suitable example, we will send that instead.
What is removed before we send it
- Client
- The instructing party's name and contact details.
- Supplier
- The factory name, address and any identifying detail.
- Commercial
- Prices, quantities, contract terms and marks.
- Kept
- Structure, method, units, conventions and the standard of evidence.
We do not publish other clients' information, and we do not send a sample that would let anyone identify a client's supplier.
Ready to book an inspection?
Send the product, the site and the dates. We will confirm the scope, the date and the fee in writing.
Facts and measurements only. No conformity conclusion on the whole lot.
