Careers

Two roles open: inspection, and sales.

China Chita Inspection Co., Ltd. is a small firm, and it grows by adding people rather than offices. We attend sites in China and overseas. Both roles below are open now, and each is hard in a way that is worth explaining before you apply.

The two roles

Inspection, and sales.

01

Inspection — on site

You attend the factory, the cold store or the loading bay, and you record what is physically there: counts, net, tare and gross weights, ice glaze under a stated convention, temperatures, seal numbers, container and carton condition, labels against a fixed list, and photographs at the points the record depends on.

What the work is like
Physical, and often cold. Outdoors as often as indoors. Loading does not wait for office hours, so some jobs start at night and finish when the container is sealed.
What you must be able to do
Work to a fixed procedure — the same steps, in the same order, every time. The procedure is not yours to change, and that is the point of it.

02

Sales — buyers overseas

You find importers, traders and quality managers who need goods checked before they ship, explain what an inspection does and does not produce, quote our fee, arrange the date, and follow the job through to the report.

What the work is like
Much of it is in writing, in English, with buyers in other time zones. It is a long conversation rather than a quick sale — a first inspection usually follows months of being read and checked.
The hard part
You will never win a job here by promising an outcome. When a buyer asks whether their goods will pass, the only true answer is that we record facts and they decide — and some deals will be lost that way. The job is to sell on everything else.

Rules that apply to both roles

These constrain us more than they constrain the client. That is deliberate.

  • You do not decide whether goods are acceptable, and you are never asked to. If what you want is the authority to pass or fail a shipment, this is the wrong firm.
  • Neither role may promise a result in order to win or keep a job — not a pass, not a clearance, not a date the factory will meet.
  • Inspection staff are not sent to a consignment in which they, or a close relative, hold a financial or employment interest — as a shareholder, director, employee or creditor of the supplier or of the client — and they rotate between sites and between clients.
  • A record goes to the principal who commissioned the inspection. The party buying from the factory does not receive it.

How we hire

On what you do and how you record it — not on what you believe.

We do not ask about your religion, your politics, or your views on anything outside the work, and we do not hire on them. What we look at is whether you turn up when you say you will, whether you write down what you saw rather than what you expected, and whether you follow the procedure when nobody is watching.

For inspection, experience in food, frozen goods or agricultural inspection helps — so does a habit of keeping careful notes in something else entirely. For sales, what matters is that buyers keep answering you. Tell us what you have sold and to whom, in whatever trade.

Before you apply, read the Independence page. It is the closest thing we have to a description of what we are like to work for.

What to send us

The role
Inspection or sales — say which.
Where you are
City and country.
What you have done
Inspection: what you have inspected, and roughly how long. Sales: what you have sold, and to which markets.
Something you wrote
A record, a report or a sales email you produced — redacted if it names a client.
Languages
What you can read and write, honestly.

Send it to admin@cci-china.cc.

We read everything that arrives. We reply when there is something to say, and we do not keep your details on file unless you ask us to.
