Categories & coverage
We work across categories. We record the same things in all of them.
A CCI inspector carries a camera, a tape, a set of scales and a temperature probe. What that equipment can establish does not change with the goods, so neither does the method.
What we work on
Categories.
Frozen food and seafood · apparel and textiles · steel · bulk commodities · machinery and robotics · PV modules · energy storage — and other goods on request.
01
Frozen food & seafood
Net weight, ice glaze, specifications, packing, labels, cold-chain temperature and loading.
02
Apparel & textiles
Appearance, quantity, measurements, packing, care and content labels, carton marking.
03
Steel & bulk commodities
Appearance, dimensions, quantity, marking, packing, and loading supervision.
04
Machinery & robotics
Appearance, quantity, packing, nameplate data and the documents that travel with the unit.
05
PV modules
Appearance, quantity, packing, nameplate parameters, barcodes and serial numbers.
06
Energy storage
Appearance, quantity, packing, marking, and the accompanying documents.
The list describes the goods we are set up to attend, not a claim about any particular consignment. Where a category is new to us, we say so before we take the job.
What we do on site
Look, and record.
On site we look and record: appearance, quantity, packing, marking and labelling, loading supervision, weighing.
- Appearance — what the goods and their packing actually look like, photographed at the point it matters.
- Quantity — counts and measurements, with the counting basis written down.
- Packing — cartons, dimensions, board, closures, and whether the packing matches the artwork or specification supplied.
- Marking and labelling — compared, item by item, against the artwork or contract you supply.
- Loading supervision — container and seal numbers, condition, how the load is built and secured.
- Weighing — net, tare and gross, with the instrument recorded.
The line we do not cross
Everything above establishes what is there. None of it decides whether the goods are acceptable — that line is drawn by the contract, the standard or your written instruction, and we apply it as written.
Where you supply artwork, a sample, a contract or a standard, we report item by item against it. Where you supply nothing to compare against, we stop at the measurements.
Checked whether or not you ask
Twelve things we check on every label.
This is CCI's own working standard. The list does not get shorter because a client did not ask for an item. It is a service standard, not a pass line — what counts as acceptable still comes from you, in writing.
01
Carton dimensions
Tape-measured length × width × height on a sample of cartons. Recorded as measured millimetres, and the difference against the artwork.
02
Board thickness and grammage
Calipers for thickness, single-sheet weight where it matters. Recorded as measured millimetres or grams.
03
Text, word by word
Product name, scientific name, specification, net weight, production date, shelf life, batch number, plant or registration number, and the destination-country language — each compared against the artwork. Recorded as: the label says …, the artwork says …
04
Images and artwork
Layout, logo, colour, position and legibility — photographed, and compared against the artwork you supplied.
05
Quantity arithmetic
Declared count × number of cartons = total, checked against what is actually packed. The three figures are recorded side by side.
06
Nails and metal
Whether staples, pins or metal fragments are present. Recorded as count, position and photograph.
07
Shipping marks
Main mark, side mark and carton number, compared against the artwork item by item.
08
Barcodes
Whether the barcode or QR code scans, and what it reads as. The decoded value is recorded.
09
Placement and adhesion
Where the label sits, whether it is lifting, and whether it covers information that has to stay visible. Photograph and description.
10
Language and destination rules
Whether the language the destination requires is present, and whether any prohibited wording appears. Recorded as fact, together with the source of the requirement.
11
Certification marks
The presence and content of a mark are recorded. The mark is not endorsed. Name and number are transcribed exactly as found.
12
Category-specific items
Apparel: care, content and size labels. Steel: heat or batch and material marks. PV and storage: nameplate parameters, barcodes and serial numbers. Added as we take on each category.
Where you supplied nothing to compare against
Label as measured: Net Wt 10 KG · carton 505 × 335 × 255 mm · board 5.1 mm · nails: none found. The record stops there.
Words we do not use here
A label is not recorded as compliant, incorrect, non-conforming or fine. Where it differs from the artwork you supplied, that difference is written out as a fact — the label says …, the artwork says … — and left there.
Where our scope ends
What we can do now, and what we cannot.
On site — available now
Appearance, quantity, packing, marking and labelling, artwork checking, loading supervision, weighing, cold-chain temperature, photographic records. This is what the equipment above establishes, and it is what we are set up to do today.
Laboratory and certification work
Chemical composition, mechanical properties, electrical performance, capacity, efficiency, microbiology and non-destructive testing are laboratory work, and certification is issued by certification bodies. Neither is something an on-site inspector can do. Laboratory testing and further certification-related work is quoted separately and confirmed in writing before the job.
The same five boundaries apply here as everywhere on this site: no pass/fail conclusion on the lot, no guarantee of clearance, no price negotiation or contract signing, no decision on whether you ship, and no certification of a factory's HACCP, BRCGS, IFS or ISO status. They are set out in full on the Independence page.
Coverage
Where we attend.
CCI is based in Dalian. We attend sites across China and, on request, in other countries — including Peru, Vietnam, Brazil, Romania and Saudi Arabia.
Coverage is confirmed for each job when we quote, together with the date and the fee. We do not publish a list of standing offices, because we do not have any — we travel to the consignment.
Where we attend
- Base
- Dalian, Liaoning, China
- China
- Sites across the country, including inland provinces.
- Other countries
- Peru · Vietnam · Brazil · Romania · Saudi Arabia · others on request
- Confirmed
- Per job, in writing, before travel.
Facts and measurements only. No conformity conclusion on the whole lot.
Not sure whether your goods are one for us?
Describe it. If it is not something we should take on, we will say so rather than quote for it.
